Images of Nature II

On the Siddha Yoga path, we acknowledge the presence of the Divine in all of creation—and this divinity is revealed in myriad forms in the natural world. The beauty and wonder we find in nature can inspire us, as seekers, to recognize the beauty within us and everywhere around us.

The Nature Gallery contains photographs taken in the wondrous environs of Shree Muktananda Ashram, where Gurumayi currently resides. The Ashram is located in upstate New York, surrounded by expansive forests and rolling hills, brimming with wildlife. Take your time as you view the gallery. Allow the images to transport you to the serene stillness of the Guru’s abode, and let nature’s splendor connect you to the splendor of your own great heart.

Today my visit to this beautiful collection of nature photos turned into a real “teaching and learning event” for me. The photos of the deer and the birds, which could only have been taken by a photographer with great patience, taught me the value of bringing patience into the hours I spend in nature. The close-up photos of flowers and leaves that reveal such exquisite beauty in their design taught me the value of bringing focus into my encounters with the natural world. And the entrancing variety of subjects—from the most delicate flower petals to the resting deer to the stunning skyscapes—taught me that, just like a camera, I can zoom in and out in order to fully embrace and appreciate the full range of wonders that nature sets before me.
