Images of Nature II

On the Siddha Yoga path, we acknowledge the presence of the Divine in all of creation—and this divinity is revealed in myriad forms in the natural world. The beauty and wonder we find in nature can inspire us, as seekers, to recognize the beauty within us and everywhere around us.

The Nature Gallery contains photographs taken in the wondrous environs of Shree Muktananda Ashram, where Gurumayi currently resides. The Ashram is located in upstate New York, surrounded by expansive forests and rolling hills, brimming with wildlife. Take your time as you view the gallery. Allow the images to transport you to the serene stillness of the Guru’s abode, and let nature’s splendor connect you to the splendor of your own great heart.

As I lingered over the photos in this Nature Gallery, I became fascinated by how many of the exquisite details in these scenes of nature have the power to shift my perception in intriguing ways. For example, when I focus on the delicacy of the butterfly’s wings, I can also recognize that the leaves of grass all around the butterfly suddenly look remarkably sturdy—in contrast. And when I turn my attention to the glorious photos of clouds as they parade and waltz across the sky, I notice that they make the trees below look almost tiny—in comparison. It’s as if Mother Nature is teaching me that there is always more to discover if I simply take the time to keep her company and pay close attention.

When I long for a touch of exquisiteness, I visit the Images of Nature gallery. This time, after reading the instructions, I decided to focus on “Take your time as you view the gallery.” I decided to allow myself time to fully imbibe each image and see what happened.

One by one, I absorbed the photos. Each one evoked gentle feelings within me. I became immersed in sensations like tenderness, expansiveness, and stillness. An overall feeling of deep, sweet joy seeped into my being.

I gratefully relish this experience in timelessness, focus, and stillness, which leads me to exquisite inner joy.
