Images of Nature I

On the Siddha Yoga path, we acknowledge the presence of the Divine in all of creation—and this divinity is revealed in myriad forms in the natural world. The beauty and wonder we find in nature can inspire us, as seekers, to recognize the beauty within us and everywhere around us.

The Nature Gallery contains photographs taken in the wondrous environs of Shree Muktananda Ashram, where Gurumayi currently resides. The Ashram is located in upstate New York, surrounded by expansive forests and rolling hills, brimming with wildlife. Take your time as you view the gallery. Allow the images to transport you to the serene stillness of the Guru’s abode, and let nature’s splendor connect you to the splendor of your own great heart.

As I viewed the expressive photos in this month’s “Images of Nature,” what caught my attention was the difference in energies that characterize the months of deepest winter compared to those we observe in warmer times. In the wintry landscapes shown here, the seasonal energies evoked are those of calm, quiet, endurance, patience, and surrender.

On the other hand, these photos also demonstrate that some of nature’s energies are not so much season-specific but consistently available throughout the year. Those energies include what I perceive in the glories of sunsets, the pulsing power of rushing streams, the delicacy of a cloud-veiled moon, and the quiet, year-round constancy of evergreen needles.

As always, time spent with the photos in “Images of Nature” inspires great gratitude in me for the multifaceted delights that Mother Nature bestows on us—in any season.

I love viewing the Nature Gallery. When I open it, I always wonder, will there be rain, snow, or sunshine in Shree Muktananda Ashram? It makes me feel as if I were there.

Each photo in the gallery is a masterpiece depicting the ever-changing, amazing beauty of nature. And although the photos represent a fleeting moment, they allow me to contemplate, relish, and meditate on the beauty they have captured.

I am so grateful for the beauty of my Guru's dwelling!

I love to view these wonderful images of nature from Shree Muktananda Ashram. Often, just before I go to sleep, I look at the photos, and these beautiful images connect me to my heart and fill it with divine love and happiness. It is like listening to sweet music that relaxes my body and soul. This gallery is a treasure for me.

The exquisitely beautiful and delicate white snowflakes floating in the water in picture #2 remind me of the work of the Guru. She leads me from darkness to light, helping me through the teachings and practices to realize the dazzling, pristine nature of the Self

I have a great longing to be in nature but living in central London and being housebound, it’s not possible. That’s why I love the Nature Gallery each month—it allows me to connect to my heart and reminds me of the beauty that exists, within and without.
