Images of Nature II

On the Siddha Yoga path, we acknowledge the presence of the Divine in all of creation—and this divinity is revealed in myriad forms in the natural world. The beauty and wonder we find in nature can inspire us, as seekers, to recognize the beauty within us and everywhere around us.

The Nature Gallery contains photographs taken in the wondrous environs of Shree Muktananda Ashram, where Gurumayi currently resides. The Ashram is located in upstate New York, surrounded by expansive forests and rolling hills, brimming with wildlife. Take your time as you view the gallery. Allow the images to transport you to the serene stillness of the Guru’s abode, and let nature’s splendor connect you to the splendor of your own great heart.

Having left the Northeast four years ago, I wasn't aware of how much I miss the daily scenes of winter beauty--of snow, frozen ponds, and winter skies. Seeing these photographs reignited a joy in me that had been dormant.

Usually I take particular delight in the brighter colors of nature, perhaps the brilliant red of a cardinal’s feathers or the rosy hues of dawn. Today, however, what drew me to linger among these photos was a symphony of subtle greys and grey-tinged blues, forming an abstract design that I found entrancing—and deeply calming. Then came several more abstract patterns in a soft palette of greys, as well as one equally tranquil image with the quiet geometry of snow-covered brown rocks.

The Images of Nature galleries have become a source of refuge for me. In the busyness of metropolitan life, there are times I feel less connected to nature. The past few mornings I've found myself drawn to this photo series. As a result, I've discovered that the connection to nature is with me whenever I need it. Sometimes I click through the beautiful photos of Shree Muktanananda Ashram; sometimes I linger on a single image—a blue jay or the silhouette over Lake Nityananda. The experience is invariably the same: I experience Gurumayi's Message and absorption in my own Self.

Every image here is a wonder to see!

I see the natural colors of the clouds at sunset, the radiance beaming through the trees during sunrise as the rays seem to give life to everything they touch. I revel in the pure white snow, the beautiful flower. I love the shapes and patterns of the clouds, looking different each and every morning and evening, as sunlight makes its way through the space between them.

I treasure what nature gives me to see. My eyes fill with relief and relaxation as I continue to gaze. My heart is smiling as I imagine myself walking down the road. I feel so joyful and grateful that the Creator is letting me know that he is with me every time I see and experience the beauty of nature.

I so appreciate the lush photos in the Nature Gallery each month! Having relocated to a warmer climate, I miss the rhythm of changing seasons, and so these images have a particularly meaningful impact on me.

My heart is full of gratitude to the Guru and the photographers for keeping me visually connected to Shree Muktananda Ashram throughout the year. As I spend time with these images, I feel like I’m home.
