Autumn has always been a cherished season for me and I thank God that I was born at this time of the year. Each autumn has become for me a rendezvous with light, beauty, and serenity. On a recent walk, sweetness and tenderness were vibrating in my heart as I admired with wonder the colors of the trees and the mist floating in the valleys, all under the bright yet soft sunlight radiating forth from a deep blue sky.
This prayer from the
Atharva Veda invites me to celebrate autumn in a new way. Instead of waiting for the spectacle of nature to unfold in the weeks ahead, I have set my heartfelt intention—inspired by Gurumayi’s Message—to spread a peaceful light all around me.

I go for a walk in a nearby forest every morning, and today I saw the trees shedding their first leaves of the autumn season. The tiny, deep-green leaves of the kikar tree (a type of acacia, native to the Delhi Ridge) had turned a golden yellow overnight and had carpeted the pathways. They welcomed me with a shower of golden leaves as I stepped out for my walk.
And then I find this prayer from the
Atharva Veda on the Siddha Yoga path website—amazing grace! What a way to welcome my favorite season!

I am grateful for this beautiful prayer and the colorful photo of the autumn season. They help me remember that this season, in most climates, is one of fulfillment—a time to harvest the fruit and grain that was planted and tended during the spring and summer. Similarly, in terms of my own
sadhana, this season is the perfect time for me to contemplate the Siddha Yoga teachings I have studied and practiced this year, and the blessings I can now harvest from them.
As I enjoy the splendiferous blaze of nature’s colors during this season, I will review and assess the bountiful blessings I have reaped by participating in the teachings, stories, poems, and live events—the copious flora and fruit—presented on the Siddha Yoga path website so far this year.

By seeing the autumn photo and praying this prayer, my heart immediately connected with Gurumayi’s sweet love and energy, and my soul flew away all the way to Shree Muktananda Ashram.

This poem is special to me because my mom—who lives with me—is 100 and, by God’s grace, will turn 101 in December. She always says “To God be the glory!” Mom has seen 100 autumns and wishes the same for everyone!
