Lord Krishna’s Everlasting Grace

As I read the story of “Lord Krishna’s Everlasting Grace,” I realized how blessed I am! The last few months have been one of the most challenging times in my life. I realized that God and the Guru have been listening to my prayers—because over and over again solutions to my challenges have manifested. There were times when I did not know how to proceed, but each time the solution came.

I pray that I will always remember how blessed I am and all the times I have been taken care of by God’s “everlasting grace.”

What moved my heart most in this story is that Draupadi’s prayer was heard by Lord Krishna. She understood and fully trusted that the Lord makes the impossible possible.

In life I myself have a hard time stepping back to get a broader perspective on a conundrum. Yet somehow a solution arises, often in a way I would never have sorted out logically. Sometimes the solution comes in meditation. Often it is from an unexpected source, appearing spontaneously and “out of the blue,” as Lord Krishna’s solution did for all the Pandavas in this wonderful story.

Upon opening the Siddha Yoga path website, I was excited to see there was a story of Lord Krishna.  I started reading it out loud as is my wont to do.

I was enjoying the story so much—and then I reached the sentence, “When one’s duty is performed with love as an offering to God, even the smallest good deed has the power to uplift many.” That beautiful, powerful teaching went deep into my heart and even stopped my breathing for a moment! I read that beautiful sentence over and over, feeling it envelop my whole being.

This teaching will be with me as I do my household chores and other daily activities with great joy—and with my Guru’s grace.

When I was reading this story, abundant love for the Guru and God welled up within me. It exemplified for me the deep, heartfelt way of true worship.

I feel as though I have been living through a period filled with challenges. Today, after reading this story, I felt something open up within me, and the conviction arose that the Guru is always with me, present in the light of my heart. All I have to do to connect with this divine presence is to stop focusing on my mind and emotions and instead turn my attention back to the inner space of my heart where my Guru dwells forever.

This experience has reminded me that I’m not alone.

What stood out for me the most when I read this story was the importance of fulfilling my dharma. I have found that almost every day I encounter situations where I have a choice whether to follow my dharma or not.

Often, in making this choice, I have experienced that little things have a big impact on a situation. Whenever I don't know how to react or what to do in these situations, I ask my Guru in my heart. I then try to listen for an answer or sense a feeling in response. Doing this has strengthened my intuition, protected me, and reassured me that I have divine support everywhere and at all times.

When I reread the story “Lord Krishna’s Everlasting Gift,” I am filled with fond remembrance of my father, who passed away eight months ago. He came from a large family of thirteen siblings; when he was growing up, food was very simple and in limited servings. Hence, he did not like wasting food. He often referred to the story of the Akshaya Patra, which demonstrates the value of offering even one grain of food to God.

I realize that my father’s teaching combined with my Guru’s teachings have instilled in me a deep reverence for food. Measuring carefully, sharing, and appreciating what is on my plate brings me great joy.

I have read this story quite a few times before. But this time it gave me a totally different perspective. The most striking aspect for me was what Lord Krishna said about what happens “when one’s duty is performed as an offering to God.” This has inspired me to do my daily work with new vision and renewed energy.

This morning, there was an issue that was weighing on my heart. I came to the Siddha Yoga path website to find comfort. In reading the tale of “Lord Krishna’s Everlasting Grace,” I was reminded that by following the Siddha Yoga path, I am always in the presence of grace. As the story teaches, even concerns that appear insurmountable have a resolution if I remain steadfast in my faith. My heart feels so much lighter!
