I read Gurumayi’s Mother's Day poem on the morning of Mother’s Day. A short while after reading the poem, I became very emotional. Waves of emotions kept coming up from deep inside, and I burst into tears.
Later on, my sister and I were on our way to visit family for brunch. During the drive, I continued to cry as my sister drove. My sister didn’t say much, as we both didn’t really know why I was crying. Then, all of a sudden, we saw a peacock running alongside the road. We were in the middle of nowhere.
I knew right away the peacock was a gift of grace from Gurumayi. And I knew my tears were the only way for me to express what I was feeling: God’s powerful love and grace.

As I read Gurumayi’s poem, the greatness of the mother in her countless names and forms lights up in my mind. Without the mother, life couldn’t exist.
When I see the young sprouts coming out of the earth, I realize that it is thanks to Mother Earth that they grow. When I hear the young birds chirping in their nest, it’s because their mother is coming to feed them and I exclaim, “What a happy nest! What happiness!”
With the understanding that love is the very essence of the mother, as I express my love, I worship Mahashakti, the supreme Mother of the universe, in my heart.

I became aware of the immense responsibility inherent in being a mother, and I saw that fulfilling this duty offers tremendous blessings and grace. As a mother myself, I feel inspired to further develop the qualities Gurumayi describes in her poem—tenderness, strength, determination, wisdom—and I recognize that I always feel her guidance when I need it most.
I give thanks every day for Gurumayi’s love and powerful presence in my life. I renew my intention to live up to her words with each new day.

Gurumayi's words gently ushered me to a tender place of recognition of "The First Love." I have reread this poem several times in the last 24 hours. Each time, my own feelings of love and gratitude expand, becoming more palpable and memorable.

This beautiful poem by Gurumayi reminds me of the time I asked my mother to come and spend a few days at Shree Muktananda Ashram and to meet Gurumayi. She had always worried that I wasn't following her religious path and I wanted to set her mind at rest.
We had Gurumayi's
darshan after a
satsang that day. As we stood before Gurumayi, I was overcome with the feeling, "Everything will be all right." I had an immediate certainty that my mother would be under my Guru's protection.
Many years later, I was keeping vigil in my mother’s hospice room just before she passed. I became aware of Gurumayi's very strong presence, which stayed for hours. I was so comforted and felt so blessed that yes, everything
would be all right. The next morning, I saw the attending nurse was wearing a
japa ring. Later I learned that she too was a Siddha Yogi.
Thinking of this always reminds me of the Guru's grace and how we are always connected.

This poem from my beloved Gurumayi was the most beautiful gift, filled with profound love. All the goodness of motherhood is alive in this poem as it is alive in Gurumayi. My heart received every word, imbibed every word. It renews my feeling that mothers are incredibly sacred.

This poem is astoundingly beautiful. Every word and thought are filled with Gurumayi’s love, grace, and wisdom. I want very much to read it over and over.
This poem reminds me that I have felt Gurumayi’s presence in both happy and difficult times, including during the death of my own precious mother. And now, in this time of world crisis, Gurumayi is with us all—nurturing, protecting, and teaching us new levels of care and protection.
I am forever grateful to Gurumayi for her presence on this earth.

This poem by Shri Gurumayi about a mother’s heart, “The First Love,” took me on a journey where only pure love and sweet childhood memories blossomed within me. I offer
pranam to my own mother for teaching me deep devotion and unconditional love for my Guru. She also taught me to offer
guruseva with no anticipation of tributes or rewards.
I still recall when I was a three-year-old child, praying with my mother daily along with my brother and sister, singing God’s names through
bhajans, reading sacred texts and scriptures, and reciting the revered Surya
gayatri mantra and Shri Ram mantras as well. She led us in these practices until I first visited Shree Muktananda Ashram in 1995. After that visit, she told me, “Gurumayi will take the lead from now on, in your
sadhana and in your life.”
I am so grateful to Shri Gurumayi for always guiding me to the path of
dharma. Her illumining words in this poem of motherly love have strengthened my deep love for, and profound gratitude to, my mother.

Reading “The First Love” on the morning of Mother's Day, I knew that the depth and breadth of Gurumayi's love for us and for God's universe are unfathomable, greater even than all the many blessings and showers of grace I have received from her during these many glorious years of my
sadhana. Gurumayi’s love was palpable in each perfect phrase. My heart began to beat, to throb, with the rhythm of each stanza. The beat was primordial; it was my Guru's heartbeat, infused with wisdom and poetry, pulsating on the page. My mind and heart united and time stopped.
My life has overflowed with Gurumayi's love for many years. How was yet more love even possible?

Gurumayi's poem feels like a beautiful sunrise for Mother's Day, with the rays of Shri Guru's words illumining our love, appreciation, and care for our mothers. I am grateful for the way the poem connects me not only with my own physical mother but also with Mother Earth, the Divine Mother, and the nurturing virtues of a mother in my own self.
I am very grateful to Shri Gurumayi for imparting these sweet, nectarean, and grace-filled words, which I receive like blessings from Goddess Mahasarasvati.

I am very grateful to Gurumayi for her beautiful poem in honor of Mother's Day, as well as for all the
gayatri mantras. I feel gratitude to my mother, my teachers, the Mother of the universe, and to Gurumayi as well as to all great beings. So I thank them all.
I am delighted to see the Mahashakti

I felt such humility and gratitude when reading Gurumayi’s words—not only for the love I have for my own mother, although she is here with me only in spirit now, but also for my own role and journey as a mother. It is a timeless, sometimes thankless role that has brought me my greatest lessons and most joyous life moments.
May the Mother, the true goddess, continue to reign supreme, bringing inner peace to all of us.

I am grateful to Gurumayi for the balm of her words and blessings. I experience the sweet qualities of a mother’s heart when I read Gurumayi's words, when I hear the sound of her voice, when I contemplate the presence of the Divine Mother.
May every day be peaceful. May every day be a day to care for mothers and their ever-present loving energy. Happy Mother’s Day!
