Today I found myself in a situation in which I felt I was losing the connection with my Self. To regain the connection, I sat for meditation and repeated Gurumayi’s Message. After repeating it a few times, I found myself established in the profoundness of my inner being. I was in stillness and had a vision of light falling upon me, just as the light is falling on the trees in the Message Artwork. Gradually this light encircled me, inside and out. I realized that this light is my dignity. I experienced that I was in my dignity; it was such a beautiful feeling.
Afterward, I enjoyed deep contentment. My worries were washed away, and I experienced Gurumayi’s Message in my being.

Reflecting on 2024, I would never have thought I would need to make such a sweet sustained effort to put Gurumayi’s Message into practice. It seems my dignity was challenged in every way possible—a car accident, loss of a job I loved, a family member’s ongoing illness, difficult interpersonal interactions. Yet each time I thought my dignity was lost, like a beacon it would reappear.
While the pain of these situations cut deep, I took the support of Bade Baba, dreams of Gurumayi, and my own breath to stand in my truth. For me, dignity has meant breathing kindness and core values in and out in the face of adversities, savoring the laughter of children and connection with animals, and holding onto my courage.

As 2024 is drawing to a close, I reflect on the sublime journey it has been, and it’s not easy to say “adios.”
I may not have yet explored Gurumayi’s Message to its fullest potential, especially since it is so experiential. And I wonder: upon receiving a new Message, am I going to park aside the current one?

As 2024 unfolded, the Message became a part of me. I understood that I was practicing Gurumayi’s teaching “Stand tall in your dignity” every time I inculcated a virtue, brought my awareness to the present moment, exercised prudence in choice of action, was truthful to myself and others, stopped belittling myself even in thought, remembered my spiritual experiences, refreshed a resolution, and accepted myself as I am.
So I will hold Gurumayi’s Message for 2024 close in my heart and continue its practice. For though 2024 is drawing to a close, my Sri Guru’s teachings are timeless. Without them, my life is lifeless!

Practicing the physical movements for Gurumayi ji’s Message for 2024 has had a profound effect on me. When I did the physical routines in the workshops, I was amazed to feel the
prana coursing through my arms, even though they were seemingly simple physical movements.

Gurumayi’s Message for 2024 is like a mantra for me: easy to remember. easy to recite, and highly effective in giving the experience immediately! Throughout the year, I’ve been able to establish a sweet connection with this Message without much effort. The Message started to be with me like a companion. I began to say it first thing in the morning after waking up, then saying it aloud while walking the paths and looking at the tall trees in Dakshin Kashi. This year, I went on a pilgrimage with Siddha Yoga friends, and Gurumayi’s Message was with us throughout. The beautiful trees, huge mountains, and rivers were all reminding us of those words.
Just saying the Message wherever I am changes my outer and inner posture and connects me immediately to my higher goal. During challenging situations, Gurumayi’s Message has taught me to understand what it means to be true, to be real, and to respect who I am without judging. And it taught me to respect others as they help me “be open to grace,” which flows through everyone and everything.
I want to practice this Message and make it a beacon of light in my life.

The other day, I moved the orchids from my puja altar to the kitchen counter to water them. As I set each down gently and tenderly, their aliveness touched me deeply. One was tall, white, and stately and the other was small and cream-colored, with dark purple lines delicately etched into its petals.
Inside I heard the first line of Gurumayi’s Message for 2024: “Stand tall in your dignity.” I was amazed at how each orchid seemed to be actively reaching as high as it could toward the sky. Next I heard the second line: “Be open to grace.” I was enchanted by how each of these exquisite blossoms was delicately and yet powerfully opening in its full glory.
Then I heard the third line: “Remain connected to your divinity.” I envisioned the shakti vibrating and glowing as these beautiful flowers came alive in a new way before me, as living reflections of Gurumayi’s Message!

I went with three other Prison Project sevites to a prison in Washington State to conduct a satsang there. About twenty students came. One of the elements of the satsang was contemplating Gurumayi’s Message for 2024. I introduced the Message, and then asked for a volunteer to come to the front of the room and lead everyone in repeating the Message in a call-and-response pattern. I offered a notecard for them to read Gurumayi’s Message from.
The first volunteer came up and recited each line of the Message in a heartfelt way, and everyone repeated it back in a united, powerful voice. We invited a second student to come up and lead, and the sense of unity grew. When a third student read out the first line of the Message, “Stand tall in your dignity,” it evoked a wonderful response within me. When we collectively repeated it back, a loving feeling swelled up inside me, so powerfully it was almost unbearable. I had a heart-opening feeling of love and connection.

Gurumayi’s Message for 2024 seems to have taken a very comfortable and prominent seat in my memory. It is never very far from my thoughts. Yesterday, I took a walk through particularly beautiful woods. As I looked up into the canopy of treetops above me, I was immediately transported to that still space within that I normally experience only during my meditation practice.
Here I was, surrounded by these majestic trees, and I felt as if I were actually walking through the landscape of the Message itself. In this space, I was able to tangibly experience each line of the Message.

During a recent
seva visit to Gurudev Siddha Peeth during the
Birthday Bliss month, I reflected as I walked along the pathways in the gardens on a quiet evening. I asked myself whether, despite the blessings and gifts I’ve received in life, I was truly content. Unfortunately, the answer was no. I realized that in my pursuit of improvement, I had been overlooking what I already possessed. In searching to achieve outward goals, which I had thought would define my dignity, I had lost sight of the blessedness of the present moment. My ambition to achieve more had caused me to neglect what I had already received. This realization shifted my mindset from dissatisfaction to contentment.
With this reflection fresh in my awareness, I attended a
satsang where the facilitator read aloud Gurumayi’s Message for this year. In a flash, I realized that I already carry dignity within myself. So instead of looking for it on the outside, I need to stand tall in the dignity within myself. This has completely changed my outlook toward myself.

Om when the blender goes on! Especially our one-year-old likes this very much. I started chanting
Om in a playful way with spontaneous intonations. The three children followed and made their own songs with
Om, and my husband joined in too. Spontaneously our seven- year-old started singing
Om Namo Bhagavate Muktanandaya in the
Bhupali raga. We all followed her lead and chanted with all our hearts. Even the one-year-old joined in! My husband improvised playing the drums on the kitchen counter and cabinet. What joy!

In
Sweet Surprise when Gurumayi encouraged us to practice how we want to be with people at the beginning and the end of our interactions with them, I immediately recognized the relevance for my work as a nurse practitioner in a walk-in clinic. I am meeting most patients for the first time, and they are often at least a little worried about their health.
Amazingly, a few days after participating in
Sweet Surprise, I joined a workplace training where we received tips on doing just this—how to begin visits in ways that promote trust and connection and how to end visits in ways that leave patients feeling supported and clear about what they’re to do next.
One of my favorite tips is to take a centering breath prior to knocking on the door of a patient’s room and then to wait for the patient to invite me in. As I stand outside the patient’s door, I often take a breath and connect to the first line of Gurumayi’s Message. Once I’m invited in, I find myself entering the room with openness and confidence. I am seeing so much benefit—both for myself and for the patients—from putting Gurumayi’s guidance into practice.

Gurumayi’s Message for 2024 has been illumining many of my experiences.
In February, the month of love, I felt love manifest and disappear even on the same day. But what I noticed and enjoyed was the fact that what always remained was firm, strong, imperishable. In particular, I relived a love story from ten years ago with a seemingly undiminished intensity.
At a certain point I felt the same discomfort I’d had when the story originally ended. So I decided to close it, and did so with such conviction and firmness that I immediately thought that the first line of Gurumayi's Message had entered into my choice. This is what it was about: I had chosen to affirm my dignity! I felt so relieved and elevated, with a determination I’d never known before. My dignity pushes me more and more to strengthen myself.
I am grateful to Gurumayi for helping me, in the first months of 2024, to get in touch with self-love, both outside and inside.

As there was no internet connection in my house, some friends and I decided to go onto the terrace in order to participate in Sweet Surprise. There, the treetops cast their shadows on an improvised puja altar. When we saw the image of trees on the screen, it felt like two environments merged. From our terrace we could see the trees swaying with their canopies and hear birdsongs, which seemed to mirror what was occurring on the screen. As a result I felt as though I was actually inside the image of the forest in Gurumayi’s Message Artwork.
Then I experienced that Gurumayi’s words and love filled me, taking away so many sorrows, hardships, and fears. I believe that this year will be one of many changes. Yet through a renewed commitment to my sadhana and the Siddha Yoga path, I hope that I will be able to imbibe the power and sankalpa of Gurumayi’s Message for 2024.

I have been studying Messages that Gurumayi has previously given us on the first of the year with a small group of friends. Most recently, we studied the Message for 1998, “Refresh Your Resolution. Smile at Your Destiny.”
The part about smiling at my destiny has always been a challenge for me. A lot of things have happened in my life that I really cannot smile about.
A few days ago, it occurred to me that my only real destiny is to follow Gurumayi’s words in her Message for 2024, “Remain connected to your divinity.” Everything else that happens in my life is temporary. When I remember to contemplate this true destiny, my mind becomes calm, I feel an inner peace, and I can truly smile at my destiny.

Recently, in trying to decide about getting some health treatments, I was journaling about the first line in Gurumayi’s Message for 2024. I asked myself, “If I had dignity, how would I approach this decision?” What came up was “With careful consideration.”
Somehow this helped me respect the process of making the decision, instead of thinking I should just automatically know what to do. This was new to me—not the process itself but the respect I gave it. Then I looked up dignity again in a dictionary and in a thesaurus, and this time I noticed the word worthy. To me, that meant it was OK to want to do something good for myself. It also occurred to me that just by being respectful of the thought and effort I was making, this would in turn help me to implement the second line of Gurumayi’s Message, “Be open to grace.” Then I remembered that when people asked Baba a question, he would sometimes say, “Think about it.”
Today I was amazed to read under “Toward Love…” that “It takes time to understand things.” So much grace!

seva in Gurudev Siddha Peeth. One day as I visited the statue of the goddess Durga, I was filled with awe at how she embodies Gurumayi’s Message. As I stood before her and repeated Gurumayi’s Message, my posture became more upright and open; I was filled with a sense of innate worthiness, confidence, trust, and serenity.
Later that morning, I found myself wanting to know more about the goddess Durga. I sat before her and prayed: “How do you embody Gurumayi’s Message?” I received the following answer:
I draw strength from the Earth.
I am steadfast, confident, and serene.
I am connected to all.
I am the column of light, radiating out compassion and strength. From this place, I offer protection.

Recently in a hatha yoga class, we were invited to focus on the tallness in our postures, and to observe and accept our limitations as gates to be overcome, entrusting them to the breath that flows through us. I linked this invitation to Gurumayi’s Message for 2024 and added the intention to practice the second and third lines of the Message as well.
In each posture—whether standing, sitting, or lying on the floor—I experienced myself “standing tall” in all directions, not just vertically. It was like an inner posture, a bhava that was imbued with a sense of self-confidence and acceptance of my limitations—not as limits but as pathways to the infinite, to freedom, to the experience of the Self.
Then I realized that I can apply this experience to subtler levels than my physical body, such as my thoughts, emotions, and dreams. This new approach to “my limits” gives me great joy, enthusiasm, and gratitude at the idea of clearing pathways to the experience of the Self, knowing that Gurumayi’s grace and Kundalini Shakti are within me.

Today, in the Siddha Yoga study group in which I participate, we reflected on dignity: What does the word dignity mean? How does dignity feel? Where does dignity come from and where does it reside? We took a few minutes to turn inside and get in touch with how we each experience dignity within.
The first thing I noticed was energy in my feet and feeling my feet on the ground. Then, the words calm strength came forth, and with that, my breath deepened and my heart expanded. Next, I felt my spine, from the base to the top, naturally elongate. Finally, I heard the word nobility arise from within.
As we shared and discussed our reflections, a rich tapestry emerged from each of our experiences.

This morning, waking up in the early hours, I experienced each phrase of Gurumayi’s Message for 2024.
In the predawn dark I stood in the garden in the company of trees, beneath the stars, feeling a lovely summer breeze against my skin. After offering some white flowers to Bade Baba at my puja altar indoors, I sang Shri Guru Sarikha and Rama Raghava, honoring and making myself receptive to grace. Stepping outside again, I was awestruck by the brilliant full moon setting amidst clouds. I sat for meditation and experienced my divine nature in the form of subtle waves of bliss and love in my heart.
I wish to share this love and divinity with all I meet today.

Last week, when I sat down to meditate, I was feeling a bit off-kilter. Then, I had the inspiration to focus my meditation on installing Gurumayi’s Message in each of my chakras. As I did so, I took a few minutes to feel the Message settle at each chakra. Afterward, I felt aligned, strong, and supple, with a sense of coherent energy throughout my body.
Since then, I have found that when I turn my attention toward my body, I am often able to experience Gurumayi’s Message arising in my awareness. As a result, I feel as though her Message is alive in me. It is an exquisite feeling of connection and integration.

I now practice Gurumayi’s Message daily and notice that events in the outside world don’t affect me as much.

Gurumayi’s Message for 2024 has been for me like a power-packed instant- application tool. Just the first line itself infuses in me a huge sense of responsible thought and action.
Normally, I am aware of the constant churn of my desires and attachments on a very practical, day-to-day basis. This could relate to food, or getting angry at my son or a work colleague, or feeling greedy for more rewards in life, or embracing busyness just for the sake of it. However, when I remember Gurumayi’s Message, I also remember my true Self, which is perfect, complete, unscathed, and content.

As I connected with it, I had the experience that in fact it was already written in my heart, and I was totally infused with it. And the heart of the Message is in the heart of Gurumayi. I understand that this is why it is alive and working in me, and I understand that this is the perpetual grace of the Guru.

I had been sick for a few days and my recovery was slow and debilitating. But when I heard her Message, it brought such hope and strength to my heart and mind! I was so grateful!
When Gurumayi told us that this Message is our “inner stambha, inner pillar,” her words became a tonic of instant healing for me. I looked for the stambha inside of me and I saw my own Guru—shining with her grace, love, and power. Her presence was so palpable! I felt inundated with Gurumayi’s grace.
I praise God and the Gurus for my continuous recovery. But I learned again that my divinity is not limited or confined to health, good fortune, or even faith, but is my true nature and nothing can defeat it.

I have returned to this simple poem daily, re-experiencing my own joyful approach. I find that following the guidance in Gurumayi’s Message empowers me to practice my heartfelt wish: to implement Gurumayi’s Message and welcome each moment as dear, one moment at a time.

For me the Message is a powerful mantra. Every morning after I wake up and every night before I fall asleep, I visualize the Message and my entire being is refreshed.

As I stood in
tadasana, I felt the energy of the earth rising up through the soles of my feet; my body developed more steadiness and strength up to the crown of my head. I began to have the experience of being a tree in summer, dressed in thousands of gorgeous leaves. I experienced the gentleness of breezes, the power of winds, the brilliance of sunshine, and the blazing blue beauty of the sky. I felt birds making their nests in my branches and squirrels making a home in my trunk. I had an understanding of the incredible service that trees provide through these homes, their shade, their networking, and much more.
Then my experience of being a tree cycled through the seasons from the glory of fall to the spareness and deep rest of winter and the awakening of spring. A feeling of deep gratitude arose, and a prayer: May I continue to serve my Guru and our beautiful planet as steadily and strongly as the trees in her exquisite Message Artwork.

Sweet Surprise, I repeat the Message and focus on feeling it and putting it into practice in different situations throughout the day.
During the day I ask myself how to apply each line of Gurumayi’s Message. As the answers come to me, I experience Gurumayi within my heart, a bright light runs through my being, and I feel the warmth of
shakti. I feel that my heart expands and that my light shines very brightly. I am doing my best to be aware of my actions and bring them into alignment with the Message. I want to put Gurumayi’s Message into practice every minute, every day, to be a better person!

As I listened to and received Gurumayi’s Message, I experienced it within my being in that very moment. I felt a tangible movement of
shakti in my heart chakra. As the days passed, I would silently repeat the Message in English, in Hindi, and in Swedish, and each time I would feel a deeper connection to my heart. To understand the Message with my mind, I looked up the meaning of the Message words in dictionaries in various languages. Now, as I repeat Gurumayi’s Message each morning, I’m relishing the sweet

I felt Gurumayi’s Message to be so strong and useful. Particularly, the third line of Gurumayi’s Message, “Remain connected to your divinity,” was something amazing and new for me. I realized that I am divine.
I was reminded of certain times when I experience divinity. For example, when I get to play with my pet fish, I feel connected to nature and my divinity. Recently I returned after my first trip to Gurudev Siddha Peeth, and even now I feel connected to my Guru, my own inner virtues, and my divinity.
I have made a resolution for 2024. My resolution is to “be open to grace” and “remain connected to my divinity.”

I appreciated Gurumayi’s invitation to look in our own language to uncover new understandings of the Message. I find this practice to be great! As I did this with the first two words of Gurumayi’s Message in French, I felt I was receiving guidance for lengthening of the spine, for a focus as I enter meditation, and for a way to make my movements more conscious.
A word in the last line of Gurumayi’s Message evoked in me a sense of a path or bridge. As I think of this image vertically, it brings to mind a column of light within.

When I repeat Gurumayi’s Message, I feel the words reverberate in my body: my feet and legs are like the trunk of a tree, my heart and core like the light of the sun, my head like the expansiveness of the sky.
After more contemplation, I perceive energy flowing up from the earth, helping me to stand tall. I feel the energy rise up to my heart, filling me with grace. And as the energy pours into me through my crown and cascades down, I feel connected to God.
I am so grateful for this Message that lifts me to my own divine nature. I already appreciate the ways I will experience its power, as I practice it each day.

When I first heard Gurumayi’s Message, I thought it would be difficult for me to “Stand tall” because of my back problems.
As Gurumayi spoke, I understood that “Stand tall” refers to an inner posture. I was relieved and felt my spirit begin to expand.
Over the course of the week I noticed that when I was filled with judgmental thoughts and negativities, my inner posture would contract. I would then remember Gurumayi’s Message and adjust my inner posture. Immediately I would become uplifted and more positive toward others. And I would feel the others become uplifted as well.
I realize that practicing Gurumayi’s words, “Stand tall in your dignity,” allows me to “Be open to grace,” and this in turn helps me to “Remain connected” to my divine nature.
I continue to hold the Message close to my heart and let it direct my behavior—my inner posture—so I can always radiate the Guru’s love.

During this first week of the new year, I have been contemplating the words of Gurumayi’s Message and naturally began to follow the teaching
“Stand tall in your dignity.” In doing so, I felt grounded in myself, and my breath was flowing freely. I let go of my worries, and I gained a new confidence in my ability to resolve any matter at hand with ease.
This subtle change in my stature made me aware of the ample grace that Gurumayi has bestowed upon me. I simply have to remember to tap into it, and its guiding light will support me in taking the right action and in speaking the right words.
I realize that the “divinity” Gurumayi has rekindled in me is my source of strength. With this realization, I will be able to face my challenging situations with confidence and faith.

Sweet Surprise began, I was aware of several areas in my life from last year that were not complete, that did not have closure. As Gurumayi spoke, I felt each of these areas dissolve. I felt strength and the inner power to begin a project I’d been putting off because I’d been afraid. That feeling of inner strength is still with me.

satsang, I went for a walk around a lake I had not been to before. A red bird, a Vermillion Flycatcher, greeted me. “Gurumayi!” I thought. Suddenly, a birder approached me. I had wanted to walk alone, but I was open to Guru’s grace and allowed the birder to give me a grand tour of the lake and tell me everything about the birds. It was a wonderful walk!

The first line of Gurumayi’s Message for 2024 evokes for me a stance of worthiness that I find invites the intuitive awareness of the light of the One in all. When that awareness arises, it infuses my experience of “dignity” with a sense of the profound worthiness of everyone and everything, including myself.
My experience of the Message’s second line is strongest when I open myself to the blissful experience of Consciousness in the form of awareness itself, of recognizing the Self as “I am.” To revel in that divine light of the Self is, for me, to be deeply “open to grace.”
To follow the third line of the Message, I acknowledge that I am, in fact, the One taking this particular form, seeing through my eyes, hearing through my ears. When that recognition is alive in my awareness, I sense that my breath is not “mine,” but rather an expression of God’s benevolent presence and blessing.
Gurumayi’s Message for 2024 has given me a means to practice such awareness as I go about my life.

In great excitement before Sweet Surprise, sleep eluded me. In a dreamlike wakefulness, an image arose from within of a vertical field of sparkling gems very near me. It was the breastplate of a tall deity, covered in pearls, diamonds, rubies, and sapphires. Golden rays of light shone on them, illuminating their magnificence. In the center of this divine fabric hung a massive sparkling green jewel, whose inner facets were illuminated by the golden light.
When Gurumayi’s Message Artwork appeared during Sweet Surprise, I had the experience of entering that green jewel—which opened out, becoming the green stand of pines with the same golden light pouring through their branches. Gem-like words arose from my heart: natural nobility, stambha, power, connectedness, silence, and song. The words filled me with enthusiasm and confidence, comfort and optimism.
When I heard the Message words, I felt they were already emblazoned within me. And just as Gurumayi explained that her Message would support us, this immediately came to pass for me. As I faced several challenges this week, I found the Message repeated within me and any anxiety was flooded with a sweet sense of ease, and my fear turned to quiet courage.

Recently, I have made it a practice to begin the day by listening to Gurumayi’s Message on the Siddha Yoga path website. That sincere effort itself seems to activate powerful processes during the rest of the day. With each effort to internalize the Message—such as sharing my understanding with a family member—it got more and more prominent in my awareness.
As I worked, I held the third line of Gurumayi’s Message in my heart; I feel it as a command from Shri Gurumayi. During the day, I received some constructive feedback on something I’d submitted at work. My initial response was to react and confront the colleague. Immediately, an inner voice said, “Feedback is for the best project outcome; it’s not about only ‘you’ per se. This attitude of taking things personally needs to change.”
Hearing this voice, I felt an immediate, expansive, and joyous shift within me. The same feedback became a precious guiding light to submit something better to the project! I happily collaborated even more with the person who had provided feedback. I could sense openness, detachment, and discrimination all manifest within me.

As I listened to Gurumayi’s voice while gazing at her words and Message Artwork, I felt myself to be part of the drawing but in an unusual way. I stood in the foreground as a strong, expanded, anchored, very alive tree. I was standing with my other sister and brother trees, each of us embodying our Siddhahood. Within myself I was a column of light simultaneously flowing up and down, yet fully centered and emitting a grand and joyful sacredness. It was me just simply being who I am without anything added.
As the satsang concluded, I was in a state I’d describe as deliciously over the moon. When I looked out our window, there on the horizon within the tall trees was a glow and then “Whoosh!” At that moment the first ray of Surya Devata beamed forth right into my heart! My husband exclaimed, “It’s a sign!” Exuberantly, we sang to Surya Devata. We both sat in total wonder and then, turning, just beamed into each other’s eyes.

When I remember to “Stand tall in your dignity,” it creates space to follow Baba’s teaching, “See God in each other.” At the grocery store yesterday, this teaching kept coming up and I found myself less driven to just get all the stuff on my list—and much more aware of the people around me. This compelled me to move more slowly through the aisles, smile more, and feel much more compassion for those busy souls going about their day. “Standing tall in my dignity” helps me see others “standing tall in their dignity.”
This phrase continued to be my companion as I drove home. I noticed that it’s very difficult to “stand tall in your dignity” and let your mind focus on the “bad” drivers on the road. How important it is to remember that all of us are great beings—not just the good drivers!
The whole experience made me realize how much more attention I need to give to being present and attentive to my whirlwind mind. Remembering Gurumayi’s Message compels me to return to the space of the Self.

When I initially heard Gurumayi say the first two words of her Message for 2024, “Stand tall,” a thought came to me of anchoring upwards with gentleness. This, in turn, led to a release of tension in my neck and torso. I felt my body relax and gently elongate.
Today, while further contemplating the first line of Gurumayi’s Message, I focused on the word “dignity.” As I did so, I felt the same release of the muscles of my neck and torso, and my head and spine gently released upwards. My mind became quieter, and a sense of harmony arose within. I understood that simply thinking of the first line of Gurumayi’s Message is enough to cause my body to release into its fullness.

Previously, I had not really paid any attention to it, and it was only after editing it that I could see how beautiful and special it was. Then, shortly after the satsang, my eyes fell on the picture again. Only then did I realize that it is very similar to Gurumayi’s Message Artwork. It felt like Gurumayi had sent me an experience of her Message beforehand.

Already, I’ve received support from contemplating the Message. This morning, when I sat down to meditate, I was feeling restless and didn’t think I was going to be able to sit still for very long. However, very spontaneously, the image of one of the trees from the Message Artwork appeared in my inner vision. I experienced that the tree was within my being. Then it started growing—it planted its roots deep in the earth while the top of the tree grew upwards, reaching toward the sun. As this vision occurred, my mind immediately became still and my body grew straighter. What a wonderful experience!

Every year, after receiving Gurumayi’s Message, I repeat it many times to myself, until I have memorized it. Then, each morning, I repeat it at the beginning of my meditation. Repeating Gurumayi’s Message to myself in this way helps me to internalize it and start to live it.
Gurumayi’s Message for 2024 is extremely powerful for me. When I repeat the first line, I feel my spine lengthen, as if I am being pulled upward from the top of the head. Contemplating the second line, I can often feel my consciousness expand into a seemingly infinite space, and I experience a sense of supreme peace and the bliss of God’s infinite light. Finally, when I repeat the third line of Gurumayi’s Message, my mind turns inward, and I rest there in the stillness and quiet of my own inner Self.

When I heard the first line of Gurumayi’s Message for 2024, a strong feeling of worthiness filled my entire mind and body. It swelled from within, as though it was waking up and becoming conscious of itself.
When I heard the second line, I felt a sense of relaxation run through my whole being, expanding outward to infinity. I had the feeling that whatever was going to enter this suddenly wide opening of my being would be something good.
When I heard the third line, I felt like my Guru had walked me down a short staircase with three steps—into the bottom of my heart.
Initially, I understood this as a one-way trip, starting with a sense of “dignity” and taking me toward the experience of “divinity.” Ah, but today, facing a challenge, I realized this trip can go both ways—I can also walk
up those steps, starting with a reconnection with my divine nature in the depths of myself and moving back into an accessible sense of “dignity” in the world.

When the trees have dropped their leaves, we can see straight through the trees near their base to a small open spot where the sun and moon often reflect on the ocean’s surface. As the experience continued, these words arose within: “Follow the light by being the light.” I understood this to mean I should go deep within and connect to the inner
Om sound vibrations so I can find my way straight home toward the light as I walk through the forest of this world.

Many years ago in Shree Muktananda Ashram, I was offering garden
seva. One day I was standing outside observing a line of trees in front of me that were all sizes and shapes, from tall and majestic to small and gnarly. As I was observing them, I had the inner experience that each one was totally magnificent and filled with majesty. I wondered why all the trees seemed so beautiful.
In that moment, I understood that no matter their size and shape, it was because each tree was standing in the magnificence of its “treeness” and reveling in its own inner beauty. There was no desire, wish, expectation, or anything pulling at them to be anything other than just what they were.
For me, the first and third lines of Gurumayi’s Message reflect that insight I had, which to me means exactly this: “Love yourself and stay connected to your own divine nature.”

Pilgrimage to the Heart Retreat and offered

Today, January 6, is the anniversary of my father’s passing. I woke up at 3:30 a.m. and had an honest, heartfelt conversation with Gurumayi ji about my mixed feelings toward my karmic relationship with my father. I wondered, “Why so, after so many years of sadhana?” I went back to sleep with some unanswered questions, asking Gurumayi to bless my father and to help me to truly understand and welcome God’s will.
A few hours later, I woke up with my heart overflowing with love and peace! Obviously, my prayer had been answered while I slept, thanks to my Guru’s compassion. On this special day, Gurumayi’s Message is coming fully alive for me with this deeper inner experience.

Since participating in Sweet Surprise, I’ve been experiencing an extraordinary buoyancy—an inner delight independent of my response to others’ behavior or digesting the news. The shakti was so strong that for the first three days, I found myself unable to remember Gurumayi’s Message without recourse to my journal. Simply by thinking of it, my mind became still.
At the same time, I have entered into inner dialogue with the Message. Often I’ll stop—prompted to examine my response to a situation, a person, an emotion that arises—and I’ll come to fresh understanding. When I first saw the image of the trees in the video with Gurumayi’s Message for 2024, I visualized the redwoods in northern California. They are so majestic, still, and awesome to be near! Since I teach hatha yoga, I naturally thought of incorporating a more in-depth practice of tadasana, the mountain pose, in my classes.
This pose makes me feel rooted to the earth and allows me to “stand tall” and also feel my self-worth. I believe the physical body reflects our emotional and mental state, and that by holding the tadasana pose, I just feel better, and therefore can spread my own good feeling to others.

What a wonderful gift for this New Year 2024! I was first intrigued by the green-colored clothing of everyone in the Siddha Yoga Universal Hall—so appealing! As a result of physical challenges, I’ve been working for a number of years to restore my health and self-confidence. This past summer, I prayed for grace daily to transform habitual worry into triumph. I brought up energy from the earth to keep myself grounded, while “standing tall”—like a bear! When Gurumayi announced the Message, and described the energy she received from the earth, I could feel the power of her Message coursing through my entire being, holding my spine in perfect posture. My confidence and self-worth feel both renewed and transmuted by this experience. Now that I have received this perfect mantra of a Message, I feel its promise unfolding with certainty.

When I saw the grove of trees in the video, I felt an instant strength, grounded and present in the forest of life. Gurumayi’s Message for 2024 set my being alight; the “alchemy” she spoke of was happening from the first moment that I entered the Siddha Yoga Universal Hall.

In Germany, when children feel sad or upset about something, we often encourage them to “Kopf hoch!” or lift their heads. This saying is very comforting, reassuring, and encouraging. It is intended to make people know that, in spite of feeling not good in this moment, they are still worthy and loved. For me, it includes the permission to feel self-esteem and to stay upright. I feel a similar encouragement in Gurumayi’s Message for 2024. It reassures me that, whatever may come, my worth, my value, and my true nature are always constant. The green and blue colors in the opening illustration remind me that through a human form created as a part of nature, I have the capacity to merge with the divine Consciousness. To me, the image of the forest of giant trees represents the Siddhas. I believe that I have received one of their seeds, in the form of shaktipat, and that I am growing under their benevolent guidance toward the blissful heaven of Consciousness.

Gurumayi’s Message inspires me to “stand tall” like a tree in the forest, grounded with roots deep in the earth and branches opening upward to receive the rays of the sun and the blessings of the clear blue sky above. In this state, I feel deeply in tune with both my humanity and my divine nature. I also experience a deep need to draw closer to Mother Earth and to do what I can to give love to the world in this time of great change. Today something happened that initially left me feeling a deep and familiar loneliness, one that I have often found hard to shake without distracting myself.
Yet, this time, as soon as I started to experience that feeling, something changed from the previous normal routine. I immediately thought of Gurumayi’s Message and began repeating it to myself. This enabled me to start asking myself questions in order to try to find out what was behind this feeling. To my surprise, during this inner dialogue—inspired by my contemplation of Gurumayi’s Message—I discovered my Self, which I experienced as my own best friend.

At the culmination of 2023, I set an intention to let go of my habit of focusing on the future and instead to make space in my heart for love in the present moment. Gurumayi’s Message for 2024 seemed to catapult that intention into an expanded dimension.
Since the first day of January, whenever I sit for meditation, I experience that I can feel the pulsation of Gurumayi’s Message alive in my body, working the "alchemy" that Gurumayi spoke of. For example, my posture seems to have adjusted so that, instead of angling slightly forward, my spine is expanding directly upwards. I am also more aware of the flow of energy within. These subtle shifts are allowing me to be present in the now, rather than leaning into the future. I feel like one of those ancient trees depicted in the Message Artwork. I feel that I am expanding upwards, aware of each of my branches, no matter how small, all the while remaining steadily grounded in love.

During Sweet Surprise, as soon as I saw the image of the trees, several virtues started coming up in my mind, including Discipline, Silence, Patience, and Stillness. So when I heard Gurumayi’s Message, I could relate all the virtues to the Message.
The word dignity in the first line of the Message stood out for me. I felt a sense of confidence within and got answers to many questions that I had been contemplating for many days. After listening to the Message, I felt an energy of transformation which gave me an understanding of what I need to do to move forward in my sadhana and my life.
I am immensely grateful to Gurumayi for this Message and her everlasting grace. The fragrance of the rose Gurumayi held out to us at the end of Sweet Surprise touched my heart.

Seeing the forest depicted in the image for Gurumayi’s Message for 2024 reminded me of an experience I once had as a young adult while walking on a path in Great Smoky Mountains National Park in Tennessee. Suddenly, my gaze into the forest of trees transported me to a world of supreme stillness and peace.
At that time, I assumed such serenity was limited to a particular time and place. Later, after I had met Gurumayi, she showed me that there is no particular time or space, and no better place, than dwelling within the stillness of my own heart.

When Gurumayi spoke enthusiastically during Sweet Surprise about how her Message, when expressed in different languages, can give native speakers different ideas, my love of languages made me pay close attention.
Later, I copied Gurumayi’s Message out in two different languages besides English. When I read the French translation of her Message—which begins with the words
Tête haute, meaning “head held high, head held aloft”—it immediately gave me an image of a postural stance by which I could picture the first line of the Message and practice a physical expression of its teaching.

2023 has been a challenging year worldwide and also for me personally. I was confronted by an old obstacle and I made the decision to overcome it. When I was struggling the hardest, only one word soothed me and it was the word dignity. It helped me raise my head and stay in the present moment. It helped me to grow up a lot this year.

At the end of Sweet Surprise, as Gurumayi bade us farewell, I felt that darshan would be my first opportunity to practice her Message for 2024. When I approached the puja in the darshan row at the local Siddha Yoga meditation center, I felt as tall as a tree in a forest and conscious of my dignity, of my goodness, which Gurumayi had guided me to recognize in meditation.
I humbly bowed to the Guru’s photo, feeling aligned with the second line of the Message. And in doing so, I felt that this was the perfect way to stay connected with my own divine nature. So, my wish for 2024 is to make the practice of darshan one of the supports of my sadhana this year.
I thank Gurumayi for illuminating the presence of her Message in all of us.

Hearing this Message from Gurumayi, I felt my spine grow longer, like a beautiful tall tree embracing the light above while firmly anchored in the ground below. It felt to me as though the Message itself is smiling, gently but clearly addressing with confidence that internal voice of mine that asks, “Can I? Am I good? Will it work out?” It tells me that this is my Guru’s command: Remember you are worthwhile, and great, and able to practice acting in daily life in a way that reflects this.

Oh, how grateful I am for this Message from Gurumayi, who flawlessly embodies “dignity,” “grace,” and “divinity”! I see these as three very alive, very different, yet somehow intimately connected nouns. Every person will conjure up a different image for each, and think of their personal relationship with each in a totally unique way. That is so much a part of the lovely gift that our Guru has just given us. And I see the expressions stand tall, be open, and remain connected as containing three profound verbs. For me they resonate softly and powerfully within—on their own or in combination with the corresponding nouns.
I live in a forest on an island, so the image chosen for Gurumayi’s Message melted my heart. I need to learn how to better practice before speaking and I especially loved the intimate goodbye from Gurumayi at the end of Sweet Surprise.

Recently I’ve been refreshing my hatha yoga practice by returning to a hatha yoga class. When Gurumayi gave us her Message for 2024, that practice arose in my mind and I experienced the Message as inward tadasana, the “mountain pose.”
I’ve been practicing tadasana for years. This was my first experience of it as an inner posture. I literally felt an inward stance, with chest expanded, feet grounded, spine lengthened while soft and steady. It was so extraordinary to feel my body as Gurumayi’s Message, and to experience myself instantly embodying the inner posture that I feel best reflects it.

This morning, I was contemplating the beautiful image of the trees in the video of Gurumayi’s Message for 2024, and it came to me that the trees were the perfect way for me to remember the three lines of Gurumayi’s Message simply and directly.
The trunks of the trees are standing tall, so they remind me of “Stand tall in your dignity.” The beautiful leaves are open, so they remind me of “Be open to grace.” And the roots are connected to the earth, so they remind me of “Remain connected to your divinity.”
I am going to recall the image of the trees throughout the days and months to come, whenever I want to access Gurumayi’s Message from within.

Early on the morning of December 31, 2023, I had a dream in which I received Gurumayi’s darshan. During the dream she said three words to me: “patience,” “hope,” and “love.”
When I received Gurumayi’s Message for 2024, I felt that each of these words aligns with a line of her Message. Patience aligns with the first line, hope with the second, and love with the third.

Throughout the day I’ve been listening to Gurumayi’s voice announce her Message for 2024, amidst the beautiful birdsong coming from the ethereal, peaceful, and sun-dappled forest, and have been experiencing such an enthusiastic yearning to practice and incorporate the Message into my daily life.
I rarely send in shares to the Siddha Yoga path website before talking myself out of it because of some self-judgmental thoughts. I tell myself it’s “no big deal” and yet each time I've done this, I’m aware that this act has a significant effect on me.
After listening to Gurumayi expound on her Message today, I felt like an enormous boulder had been lifted from inside myself, so that the light it had been blocking could finally shine forth. “Share for the sake of sharing! Give for the sake of giving! Live for the sake of living!”
The gifts and beneficial impacts of Gurumayi’s Message have already begun. My infinite thanks to Gurumayi for the mahaprasad of receiving her Message today and for continually reminding me of my God-given worth.

I am very grateful to have received Gurumayi’s Message and guidance on January 1. For me this Message is like a pillar, just as Gurumayi said in her talk, or a lofty and strong tree with many branches.
The first line of the Message resonated within me like Baba’s core teaching, “Honor your Self.” It also meant to me “Respect yourself,” “Trust your goodness,” and “Be true to your values.” The second line encourages me to be more receptive to being guided, to deeply trust grace, and to trust the “alchemy” of the Message that Gurumayi spoke of. The third line reminded me to always come back to the source, to nourish my own light. And I saw a strong relationship between the words dignity and divinity, in that one leads to the other.

How to be able to come to rest inside myself?”
During the satsang, when I heard Gurumayi speak the words of her Message out loud, I took a moment to assimilate what she had said. At the same time that understanding dawned, I felt like my questions had been answered and that the clear direction I have been seeking for so long had been given to me in those three simple lines of Gurumayi’s Message. I am looking forward to having the Message as my close companion during 2024.

One definition that resonated with me was this: “The concept of human dignity is the belief that all people hold a special value that’s tied solely to their humanity.” For me, this is akin to being grounded in the Self, and interacting with the world with the unshakeable belief in the intrinsic value of every person who crosses my path.
When Gurumayi says, “Stand tall in your dignity,” I see that as an invitation to hold steadfast to the miracle of life, and to allow that stance, that posture, to infiltrate every cell of my being. What a magnificent vision to carry forth, and carry out in the coming year—magnificent because of its breadth and depth, and the possibilities it presents for making the world a more beautiful and just place.

As I was waiting for Gurumayi to give her Message for 2024, my attention was caught on the details of the light and the colors of the beautiful trees that appeared on the screen. I started wondering what the trees had to do with the Message. Suddenly, a profound silence enveloped me and these words arose within me: “Stand still like a tree, with dignity.” So, when Gurumayi gave us her Message, I was astonished, and my eyes filled with tears of love and recognition. I realized it was my inner Self that I had heard in the midst of the silence.
I also realized that I have been neglecting that inner voice, and now it was talking to me loudly, strongly, sweetly, and lovingly, making sure that I listened. And I did.
