Awareness is, for me, the master key to all intentional change: the only things that I can work with, appreciate, and change are the things I am aware of. My efforts in sadhana are all to increase my awareness of the Self and to taste and live in the sweetness of this state.
Right now, it seems to me that what time provides me depends on the state of my mind. When I focus more on getting something done or staying stuck in a negative mood, time matches my experience, and I feel constricted by the limited time I think I have. But when my heart, body, and mind are open, it seems that time too opens up for me, and I gain space to do everything I want to do.
This teaching “Awareness of time” has already expanded my understanding of time. With further practice, I feel my perception of time can mature, thereby opening me up to greater awareness of the Self.

Gurumayi’s Message and her daily teachings have given me the gift of “Awareness of time.” I have become much more aware of how I am choosing to spend each moment, of whether I am really engaging all of my attention in whatever choice I have made, and my intention to honor each moment. I am learning just how precious time is! I am very grateful. This is, indeed, a priceless awareness.

To practice “Awareness of time” and to find a deeper understanding of this teaching, I oriented myself today by my watch and the sun. My watch showed me the time and the time frame in which I could do something, and the sun revealed to me what mood and energy prevailed at this time.
My feelings about the day’s moods reminded me of the feelings I have when I listen to various
ragas of Indian classical music. I saw that time contains various moods and feelings—and also that my highest inner Self remains completely unaffected by this and exists in a timeless Consciousness.
Each day I am contemplating the precious teachings of Gurumayi, and I am diving deeper into the fascinating world of time and of Gurumayi’s Message.
