In just over a month, you will have the golden opportunity to participate in the Siddha Yoga Shaktipat Intensive in Honor of Baba Muktananda’s Mahasamadhi. This year, on the Siddha Yoga path, we are celebrating the 50th anniversary—the golden anniversary—of the Shaktipat Intensive, which Baba created and held for the first time in 1974.
The focus of the Siddha Yoga Shaktipat Intensive 2024 is Baba’s teaching:
“The body is the temple of the Self.”
During the Intensive, you will listen to the talk Baba gave on this transformational teaching on the very first day of the first Shaktipat Intensive in 1974. You will also explore the way Baba’s teaching enhances your understanding—and experience—of Gurumayi’s Message for 2024.
In the Intensive, Gurumayi bestows shaktipat-diksha—the awakening of Kundalini Shakti—through her sankalpa, her intention. This awakening makes it possible for us to experience, and ultimately become established in, the Self—the source of unwavering peace and joy within our own being. For those of you who have participated in a Shaktipat Intensive before, you know how this grace-filled event is a powerful way to commune with your own Self and revitalize your commitment to sadhana.
The Siddha Yoga Shaktipat Intensive is a one-day immersion in the Siddha Yoga teachings and practices. It will be held at participating Siddha Yoga Ashrams, meditation centers, and chanting and meditation groups on Saturday, October 26, or Sunday, October 27, depending on the location. As the Siddha Yoga meditation teacher for this year’s Intensive, I invite you to make time to participate. I look forward to being with you in the sacred atmosphere of the Siddha Yoga Shaktipat Intensive 2024.
I participated in the Shaktipat Intensive in the Siddha Yoga Ashram in Melbourne. It was a bright, blue-skied day. The rose bushes around the murtis of Bade Baba and the Siddhas in the courtyard were in full bloom.
During the Intensive I took the instructions of the Intensive teacher to heart, and when it came time for meditation, I followed them with reverence. I experienced that I was flying high, close to a snow-covered mountain range. As my flight gradually slowed down, I drew close to the mountain face and I saw that the snow was actually sparkling energy. Soon I found myself soaring over a green valley and large lakes.
When I came out of meditation, I wondered where I had been and what it meant. Then I realized I had been flying over sacred Mount Kailash! I was amazed. Since the start of the year, I have wanted to find a way to visit Mount Kailash, but when I learned about the difficulties involved, I was left simply with a wish: if only I could make the pilgrimage to sacred Mount Kailash.
And here I was, making a pilgrimage to Mount Kailash in meditation!

Since returning to the US two months ago, I have undergone a transformative shift in my approach to my physical well-being. Prompted by some recent health struggles in my family, I have adopted a more mindful approach to nutrition and increased my exercise frequency. I have began to respect my body, and have started the practice of looking at myself in the mirror with love and compassion.
The focus of the upcoming Siddha Yoga Shaktipat Intensive, “The body is the temple of the Self,” speaks directly to my current experience and aligns with my recent awakening to the importance of nurturing my physical well-being. I feel that this teaching is precisely what I, and my family, need to explore at this moment—a powerful reminder to honor our bodies as sacred vessels.

Wow! The Siddha Yoga Shaktipat Intensive 2024 is the golden anniversary of the first Shaktipat Intensive that Baba Muktananda held in 1974! Every Intensive that I have ever participated in brings something profound and filled with grace into my life. Last year it was chanting Om Namah Shivaya with Gurumayi, which led to a still, deep meditation like those I have experienced at Gurudev Siddha Peeth. This is not something I can will to happen; it only happens through the Guru’s grace!
I am also looking forward to Swami Ishwarananda being the Siddha Yoga meditation teacher for the Intensive. Swami ji extracts experiences from everyday life and crystallizes each experience into a simple and beautiful teaching that leads me forward in my sadhana.
I am deeply grateful to Gurumayi for the Shaktipat Intensive!
